Remembering Kim Hargrove, Class of 2016

Kim Lorraine Hargrove passed away peacefully on July 1, 2017 at home in Fort Washington, MD with her husband and children at her side.

She was the beloved wife and best friend of Michael, and loving mother to her sons, Zachary and Gabriel. She was preceded in death by her father, Nathaniel Everhardt. She is survived by her brother, Omar Everhardt; her sister, Adriane Everhardt; mother, Estelle Shields and a host of other relatives and friends. She was born on December 16, 1959 in New York, NY and was raised in Newport News, VA. She graduated from Menchville High School in 1977 and moved to Washington, DC to attend Howard University. She married her college sweetheart Michael in 1984 and together they embarked on a 32-year love affair.

Along the way she traveled the world, raised two wonderful sons, was a devoted wife and life partner, earned three Masters degrees and a Juris Doctor, was a friend and mentor to others, and was an accomplished attorney and patriot with 24 years of exemplary service at the Department of Energy and the National Security Agency. She brought love, wit, and wisdom to everyone she touched. Kim was a remarkable woman who was very much loved. She will be greatly missed.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. at St. Columba Catholic Church, 7804 Livingston Rd., Oxon Hill, Maryland 20744. Interment Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Kim to the (www.cancer.org/donate).
